PRESS RELEASE

‘THE WREXHAM STORY’

 Wrexham History Fair 2017

Wrexham has a rich and exciting history and evidence of this can be found in all parts of the County Borough. We have the Iron Age Fort at Caer Alyn, evidence of Roman road building over 2000 years ago, the castles of Edward 1st and the establishment, over centuries, of major iron, steel and coal industries. We can also go back some 300 million years to when Wales was in a different place and the Brymbo fossilized forest was laid down.

In celebration of this unique legacy, Wrexham Heritage Forum organizes an annual History Day enabling the many Wrexham history societies to provide exhibitions of their heritage material on the Museum forecourt. This years History Fair is arranged for the 1st. July 2017 and will provide a full day of activities in addition to the individual heritage displays (see programme). It will be opened by the Mayor at 11.00am..

Wrexham Heritage Forum is a voluntary organization founded ten years ago to enable local groups to pool resources and work together to increase County wide and Regional awareness of Wrexham’s heritage.
